X-Factor Is An Outrage
After the sham of X-Factor last night everyone should 'Vote with their Remote'. Turn Cowell and Co. off at the weekends because the show is a mockery. Lucie was absolutely fantastic and yet she was humiliated in front of millions yesterday. Let us hope that Danni has some good luck and Stacy can run Cowell and his posse out of town!

Derren's Lottery Prediction
Derren Brown’s apparent success in predicting last night’s national lottery numbers on live television has sparked a massive nation-wide sleuthing mission.
Viewers baffled by how the illusionist carried off the trick have been watching clips of the show online and clubbing together on social networking sites to suggest explanations.
Brown’s ten-minute Channel 4 show, The Event Live, in which he revealed a pre-selected set of lottery balls shortly after the real ones were drawn, is to be followed by an explanatory show tomorrow night.
It should be a good watch.

Not a pleasant time especially when the summer was so bad! We have kitted a lot of children out for school and we hope these clothes will serve them well over the school year. Don't forget we stock all sizes right through the school year if you need any replacements or extras.

Forty Five Lessons
Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio.
To celebrate growing older, she once wrote the 45 lessons life taught her.
It is the most requested column she has ever written.
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first pay cheque.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.
Remember that I will always share my spoon with you!
Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.

Jacko Dead
The death of MJ today has stirred a lot of chat and debate at work. A legend, an icon, a sad individual, the king of pop were just a few statements made in conversation. Some staff defended his integrity over the stories that have revolved about him in recent years - while others did not shed many tears over his passing. There is no doubt he was an interesting person who probably was his own worst enemy. There will be plenty of opportunity to reflect over his life as the media will thrash it to death again and again until the funeral is over!

£80,000,000 Offer For Ronnie

Ronaldo is going - this is quite a blow to United and me - or is it? It seems that whilst he has been so influential to the team he has now been given the opportunity to get his dream move to Spain and Real Madrid. Mixed feelings about this because of what he has done in recent years but SAF will certainly have plans in mind to reinstate us a s favourites to lift a major honour in 2010. Come on UNITED!

Says It All
United's flag is deepest red,
It shrouded all our Munich dead,
Before their limbs grew stiff and cold,
Their heart's blood dyed it's every fold.
Then raise United's banner high,
Beneath it's shade we'll live and die,
So keep the faith and never fear,
We'll keep the Red Flag flying here.
We'll never die, we'll never die,
We'll never die, we'll never die,
We'll keep the Red flag flying high,
'Cos Man United will never die.

Take A Reality Check...
the lot of you! Liverpool and Arsenal supporters. We lost - so what! At least our trophy cabinet needs opened this season - yours doesn't! A truely poor performance in Rome saw United lose out on their bid for back to back European Cups. Barcelona won the game 2-0 thanks to goals from Eto'o and Messi. United didn't turn up. A bad day for the lads. Just like a boxer who took a right hook on the chin - they never recovered after the early goal. I can live with it - World Club Champions, Carling Cup Winners and the most important for me, Barclays Premier League Champions - yes, the trophy cabinet is well worth looking at once again for United fans. Take a well earned break lads and come back even hungrier in August once again. Barcelona 2-0 United.

League Campaign Over Again
The final matchday in the Barclays Premier League saw United reserves (including Nani) sign off in style with a 1-0 win over Hull City. There was much being made of Survival Sunday and who would go down and who would stay up. All in all none of the four teams in the scrap won so all positions remained the same. West Brom, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United all will enjoy life in the Championship next season. Hull 0-1 United.

Manchester United Crowned Champions Again
Manchester United wrapped up a record-equalling 18th league title on Saturday. A goalless draw against Arsenal was all Sir Alex’s men needed to claim their third league title in a row, which puts them level with the Dippers in terms of titles won. A fairly low key game saw United get the point they needed and the celebrations were a joy to behold in the Theatre of Dreams. Well done to the lads, even though these last few months a few more grey hairs have appeared watched the Red Devils. United 0-0 Arsenal.

Credit To Wigan
A tough tough game last night. Wigan really played well (but I wonder why they can't do this every week!). Anyway, Carlos came on again and made a dramatic difference to United. Anderson just did not do enough in midfield. He did't really do a lot wrong but he just did nothing exceptional either. Scholsey has had better games also. Too many times Wigan were able to walk through the middle. Our defense had no cover from the centre of the park. Carrick did play well and made a fantastic saving tackle on the edge of our box mid-way through the second half. Then of course, he scored the winner with a superb strike. Ronaldo did not have his shooting boots on and Rooney also missed two gilt edge chances. I am beginning to wonder is the season really starting to take its toll on a few. Just three more games lads and then you can have a few weeks off. Wigan 1-2 United.

See A Penny
I seen a penny this morning on the footpath and I did pick it up. Not because I feel it will change my finances dramatically but I do believe it will bring me luck. I used to wonder how pennies do appear on the footpath until I seen some schoolboys throwing ten pence pieces at the Post Office sign outside Supervalu on the High Street. Money really has no value anymore!

United Win Derby At A Canter
United won the Manchester Derby today by two goals from Ronaldo and Tevez. A tidy and professional performance to jump ahead of the Dippers again. Fletch got MOTM with a superb energetic display but the lads were all good. Berba, Tevez, Vidic, Park and Giggs all performed well. Wigan on Wednesday - bring it on! United 2-0 City.

Back In The Final
Well done to the lads last night. Great start meant the game was dead for Arsenal early on. Park and Ronnie had two in the net before 15 minutes had passed. The sour note was the sending off of Darren Fletcher and he will miss the final which he undoubtably would have started if he had remained fit. Anyway another final to savour on May 27th. Arsenal 1-3 United (1-4 Agg).

R-P-S Final Result
Sandy made mincemeat of Lily in the final over the marathon of 20 throws. After five, the game was locked at 2-2. After ten, Sandy was 5-2 ahead. After fifteen, Sandy had increased her lead to 7-2, eventually running out by 11-2. Quite a performance. Congratulations and well done to Sandy who improved immensely throughout the competition.

United Ease Past Boro
A lunchtime kick-off at the Riverside - United were at ease in beating Middlesbrough and edging closer to the end of the league campaign. Goals from Giggsy and Park sealed the win. Half the team rested thinking of the second leg of CL on Tuesday night. Boro 0-2 United.

R-P-S Semi Final Results
Two cracking games in the semi finals.
First up Lily played Colin. A tight game over the fifteen throws saw Colin leading 3-2 after 7. Four draws followed and Lily went into overdrive winning three out of the last four to win the game 5-3.
The other semi was a nailbiter. Merv and Sandy were locked at 2-2 after 7. Sandy managed to take three out of the next four to lead by two with two throws left. Merv drew on all of his experience to win the last two throws to take the game to sudden death. First throw: PapervPaper / Second throw: PapervRock and Sandy takes the game.

In The Driving Seat
United played very well in the CL Semi-final first leg last night winning the game 1-0. There is some frustration in the fact that there should have been three or four goals scored but... we will know next Tuesday if this was a good result or not. Nice goal by my player of the season Johnny Boy O'Shea. United 1-0 Arsenal

Another heartstopper!
Two nil down at half time. Game over - no, not with Manchester United!! Bring on Tevez for Nani (The Clown) and the game is turned on its head! Simple formula - don't turn up for the first half and score five in the second. This however is not good for the heart. The performance after the break was excellent with everyone very much up for the task. Goals from Wazza (2), Ronnie (2) and Berba sent United back to the summit once again. United 5-2 Spurs.

Long Trip From The South Coast
Good result for United last night - but it should have been 10-0! Portsmouth however didn't turn up and United made harder work of the win than it should have been. Great shift by Wazza and Giggsy. Goals by Rooney and Carrick late on sent United back to the summit of the Premier League. United 2-0 Pompey.

Breast Cancer Fundraiser
A very good friend of mine who lives in Australia has suffered in recent years with breast cancer. Sharon Holt has entered the 2009 Mother's Day Classic on Sunday 10th May to raise funds for breast cancer research.
By participating in the Mother's Day Classic, it allows Sharon to make a difference in the lives of those women who may be diagnosed with breast cancer both now and in the future, as all profits raised are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, who fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of the disease. Sharon is asking friends and relatives to consider sponsoring her participation in the 4km run by following the link to her online fundraising page and donating.

Hard To Know
It is hard to know what to think about today's game. We did in my opinion put out a weakened team. Everton had arguably their strongest line up (without Arteta) and we still had chances. The game was even enough over the 120 minutes but some of our play was very frustrating. We are continually wasting our opportunities from set pieces, especially corners and I think this will cost us in games coming up. Our defence was good yesterday and this was one plus point. Anderson, Gibson, Wellback and Park did not do enough. Their distribution could have been better and Tevez was wasteful too although he did work as hard as usual. Macheda will get much much better I think but the lad is still feeling his way and the service yesterday could have been better. As we all know the penalty lottery is fickle and we have tasted both outcomes now in recent tournaments. I just somehow knew yesterday it was going to go wrong for United. Good luck to Everton in the final but they will have to play a lot better than they did today to trouble Chelsea. United 0-0 Everton (2-4 Penalties).

Good Solid Win In Portugal
Well done to the lads last night against FC Porto in the CL. After a magnificent goal (best strike of the season so far) by Ronnie there was a nervous 87 minutes to watch but all in all United limited their opponents to few clear cut chances. All round good team performance with Wazza exceptional on the right wing. FC Porto 0-1 United (2-3 Agg).

Advantage Thrown Away
Another iffy performance last night against FC Porto in the CL. While playing so poorly a 2-1 lead would have been brilliant for the return leg but we conceded with a couple of minutes to go - anyway all is not lost and a squeaky 2-1 win will do us in Portugal!! United 2-2 FC Porto.

8 Wins To Go

Boy what a watch today. United played rubbish for 75 minutes and then they bring on an Italian rookie called Federico Macheda - he turns the game on its head! A massive result for us but we need the likes of Berba, Wazza, Manja, Rio and Scholsey back to improve the performance. We simply cannot rely on playing just the last fifteen minutes of every game - but it was some feeling when we won. Come on United. United 3-2 Villa.

Organ Donation: The Gift Of Life
I have heard recently through radio advertisements and articles in papers about the need for organ donors. Today more than 9,000 people in the UK need an organ transplant that could save or dramatically improve their life. Most are waiting for a kidney, others for a heart, lung or liver transplant. But less than 3,000 transplants are carried out each year. Transplants are one of the most miraculous achievements of modern medicine. Some Ship Steadying Needed
Another bad day at the office back at the Cottage. United are starting to hit 'the wall' at the wrong time of the season. The game was always going to be a struggle when we lost a man early in the match. Played better second half but never going to get much out of our London visit. International break might help the lads get their heads around what could be slipping through their fingers shortly!! Fulham 2-0 United.

Jade Goody
Jade has been in the news a lot recently because of her well publicised imminent death. It has seen a lot of air-time in the tea room with opinion divided on the publicity she is generating and getting. I do feel sorry for her as she is a young woman whose days are very much numbered. However I also feel sorry for small children in parts of Africa who eat a spoonful of rice out of a dirty bowl - this isn't however a moneyspinner for the media so we don't so hear much about that! Do take time to visit the website of Mission Africa. [www.missionafrica.org.uk]

Done By The Dippers
Reality Check...Reality Check...Reality Check! The league is not over, we have not won it yet, so why do we capitulate against the one team who we do not want to lose to all season! Unbelievable result at OT today (thank goodness I could'nt get to see it!) - let us hope that this result will hurt the players as much as it hurt me. I trust the next game against Fulham will produce a much more acceptible display and silence some of my workmates. United 1-4 Dippers.

Mour Success For United
By hook or by crook, United are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Goals from Manja and Ronny carried the Reds past the Jose Mourinho's Serie A champions at Old Trafford, as the visitors spurned a host of first-half opportunities and struck the woodwork twice. A slightly below par performance sends the lads through to the draw on Friday week - should be very interesting!

Just to let you know we are operating parity again with the euro currency. Even though there is a 10% difference in the exchange rate at the minute we will still allow you pound for euro in any purchase.

Wattersons R-P-S Championship
We are now going to have a Rock Paper Scissors Championship in the shop. Twelve staff will be split into two sections. The top two in each section will play off for the overall title. Games will commence on 11th. Unbelievable crack!

This Is What You're Up Against
Dirty blaggard stole a leather jacket today worth £180.00! The jacket was stolen at around 2.30 pm. After looking at the CCTV I would say this guy was fairly sharp - maybe not a pro but still very good. He moved the coat twice to positions near the door. Then he made his getaway after a period of walking around the department. I think it could have been prevented but members of staff need to be more astute to these type of thieves. Anyway if he pays us another visit we now know what he looks like.

United Beat United
A difficult trip to St. jame's park saw United come away with a fine 2-1 win over Newcastle. Didn't see the game but the result is brilliant - well done Wazza and Berba. Seven points clear with a game still in hand. Surely we can't throw this away now. Newcastle United 1-2 United.

Winter Sale Over
The sale is now over and signs are down and labels are cut off. It is always great to see the end of it but we know that March will be quiet. The rails are filling up with new stock and new brighter colours. I feel a spring clean coming on...

Carling Cup Triumph
United fought out a dogged battle against Spurs at Wembley. Ronaldo played well and should have had a penalty and a goal in normal time. All the way to penalties and another confident performance from the spot won another trophy this season. Well done to all the lads. Spurs 0-0 United (1-4 on penalties).

Eco Paper Log Maker
This was today's Tea Room Topic - making logs for the fire from old newspapers! I like the idea and have purchased one of these gadgets from ebay. A Dungannon based business is selling them and they are very popular at the minute. It could be a complete red herring but I am going to try it to see.

Brilliant César Keeps United At Bay
The Champions League bandwagon is back on the road again after the group stages finished in December. United played well and indeed should have scored a couple at least in the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. There is so much emphasis placed on the away goal in these knock-out stages but I still think if you win your home game (as you should) the tie should be yours. I think with a few tactical changes to the team such as Vidic back, Scholes and Rooney starting then we will win at OT in two weeks time. Internazionale 0-0 United.

Pure And Utter Quality
United 2-1 Blackburn. Hard work and not the best performance of the season but an important win. I am still so very frustrated with Nani - one good game and then ten bad ones - SAF must know something I don't know. Keep up the good work boys....

Another Record Beckoning

United claimed a ninth successive win against Fulham last night to open up a formidable five-point lead at the top of the table. This was United's 14th consecutive clean sheet in the Premier League, while Edwin van der Sar inched closer to the world record for not conceding a goal by extending his unbeaten run to 1,302 minutes. Goals from Scholesy, Berba and the returning Wazza from injury seen off the Londoners. United 3-0 Fulham.

Super Crazy Prices
All of the Autumn / Winter sale stock has now been reduced to ridiculous prices. The sale will be ending very soon and with new Spring stock arriving daily, room has to be made for the new ranges. Maybe there is a bargain waiting there with your name on it...come on down, the price is right!

Rams Take A Battering
United welcomed back a few faces from injury and shuffled the pack again to record an excellent fifth round F.A.Cup victory over Derby County. Good solid performances from Gibson, Park and Nani in midfield set the team up for a comfortable win. Derby 1-4 United.

Magic - The Truth Is Out
MR (aka Magic) has eventually come clean about his trip to Paris for St. Valentines - all bluff, not a word of truth about it! A few of the ladies were drawn in and indeed told the story on but the rest of us knew what was happening. They revel in a good old fashioned love story. Ah well, maybe next year!

First Snowman Of The Winter

Chlo, Em, Carol and me built our first snowman of the winter today. The snow finally did come in good measure this morning. We decided to build a monster one so that it would hang aound for a day or two.
Another great result for United today again to go back to the summit of the Premiership. Ryan Giggs also set another record by scoring in every Premier League season - brilliant! West Ham 0-1 United.

Today's Tea Room Topic
I am sure our workplace is no different to many others. The staff room, or tea room as we call it, often throws up an interesting discussion or debate over the lunch break. I will regularly update you on our Tea Room Topic - today the question on everyone's lips: "Is there life on Mars?". As you know there are many highly qualified indiviuals out there who are working hard on the answer so I will not bore you with our thoughts but needless to say there were many variations on the subject!

February - A Strange Month

It is 10.30 am and I am looking out of my office window into the entry and it is as dark as night! February is cold - we think winter should be well through but winter is definitely still here in February.
February is quiet - after the hustle and bustle of December and January things settle down in the second month of the year.
February is short - the shortest month but still pay day doesn't come quick enough!
February is competitive - Premier league, Champions League and FA Cup all start to get very serious. At the end of the month a clearer picture will form....
February is work - our financial year finishes on the last day which means there is a lot to be done.
February is strange - but I like February!!

It's Snow Joke
First of all - hard luck the Toffees on Saturday evening - United 1-0 Everton. We should have had two penalties (and probably should have conceded one as well!) but ground out another hard fought 1-0 win. I just love Park's face when he gets booked - 'who me Ref, no way!'. Some parts of the country are getting snow but Omagh is still clear of the white stuff for the time being. The Sale continues with more reductions so there is now lots of garments at ridiculous prices.

Pound For Euro
The Winter Sale is going well but there are still plenty of bargains to be had. We are giving pound for euro at the minute so it is even better value for our visitors from the Republic and those locals who have a few euros stored away! With more reductions on stock this week why not call in and grab a bargain.

Mum And Eight Babies Doing Well
Congratulations to the proud parents of the octuplets born in California. Can I suggest some names for the boys: Christiano, Ryan, Edwin, Paul, Dimitar, Gary, Rio, Patrice, Wayne, Carlos, Nemanja, John, Fabio, Rafael, Darren, Michael, Jonny or maybe Alex! For the girls, probably Coleen or Zabeena!

Potholes And A Thrashing

Off today. Listened to the local community on Q101 giving off stink about all the potholes in the Omagh roads while I was out in the car. A councillor said on the radio that 'no-one should pay their road tax'! Don't think he should have said that. I had to get the steering on the Laguna checked last week as I hit two cracking holes on the way to Castlederg - thought I'd bust something. After the wheels were balanced it seems OK again.
West Brom 0-5 United (Super result away from OT - well done Ronny, back on the scoresheet).
New Premiership record - 11th consecutive clean sheet.

A Month From Christmas
It is hard to believe that a month has passed since the Festivities...only eleven months to go now till Christmas!! Anyway, the Winter Sale is going well and this weeks ad says 'up to 50%, up to 60% and up to 75% off many items' so get your skates on and grab yourself a bargain.
An update to Magic and his trip - he is going to brush up on his French with a phrase book! La Magie bien faite, vous aimez apprendre!

Site Redevelopment
Hi there, at last I have managed to reconstruct the site on dreamweaver because the original web editor I was using suddenly started introducing ads and stuff - a real pain! I have introduced this blog on the news page just to fill you in as often as I can on the real life docu-soap we call 'Wattersons'! A lot of the blog may seem irrelevant but I am hopeful that it may generate a response from whoever looks at it one way or another!
